Philosophy Courses (PHIL)

Minor Requirements

In order to gain a minor in philosophy you must gain at least 6 points from Introduction to Philosophy and 5 points from Mathematical Logic.

PHIL 100: Introduction to Philosophy

The topic list for this project is: logic, reality, knowledge, value, morality, freedom and responsibility, and mind and body.

PHIL 101: Mathematical Logic (Pre: PHIL 100)

The topic list for this project is: set theory, propositional logic, predicate logic, completeness, model theory, and computability and incompleteness.

Second Minor Requirements

In order to gain a second minor you must gain at least 6 points from a 200-level project and 5 from another project.

PHIL 200: The Philosophy of Science (Pre: PHIL 101)

The topic list for this project is: science and pseudoscience, scientific objectivity and values, the Duhem-Quine thesis, induction and prediction based on evidence, Bayesian confirmation, scientific explanation, the nature of laws of nature, intertheoretic reduction, and empiricism and scientific realism.
