This is an overview whose purpose is to present the basic facts about the nature of cultures, organization of societies, communities and households, technology and trade, diet and health, gender and ethnicity, symbols and ritual, survey and excavation, analysis of artifacts, and reconstructing the past. The requirement for gaining points from this project is a project notebook.
This project describes the methods and gives tasks to plan and conduct an archaeological project. The specific steps include: legal issues about gaining permission, conducting a site survey, mapping and using maps, photography and digital photography, data acquisition, collecting samples, field data analysis, sample conservation, developing an archaeological laboratory, and artifact analysis in the laboratory. The requirement for gaining points from this project is a project notebook, and a separate scientific notebook where you conduct a complete observational research project using the lessons described here as a guideline.
