Learning Projects

ARCH 1: Introduction to Archaeology

To complete this project you must do all required homework assignments, and you must develop and present either a 3-5 lesson learning project extending these lessons, or a paper applying these principles to a topic of interest.

Lesson 1: The nature of cultures. Lesson 2: Organization of societies. Lesson 3: Communities and households. Lesson 4: Technology and trade. Lesson 5: Diet and health. Lesson 6: Gender and ethnicity. Lesson 7: Symbols and ritual. Lesson 8: Archaeological survey and excavation. Lesson 9: Artifact analysis. Lesson 10: Reconstructing the past.

ARCH 2: Data Analysis (CORE 11 or CORE 14 and CORE 13)

To complete this project you must do all required homework assignments, and you must develop and present either a 3-5 lesson learning project extending these lessons, or a paper applying these principles to a topic of interest.

ARCH 3: Basic Methods of Archaeology (Prerequisite: CORE 11 + ARCH 1)

To complete this project you must do all required homework assignments, and you must conduct a research project, write up the results as a research paper, and prepare a presentation of your results.
